Andøya, Norway – May 14, 2025 — A new chapter in allied defence cooperation was written during the live operational exercise Jotun Strike at Andøya, where cutting-edge technology and international collaboration achieved a world-first milestone.
For the first time ever, a U.S. precision weapon launched from an American F-15E fighter jet was successfully transferred mid-flight and guided to its target by Norwegian personnel using a Norwegian-developed Network-Enabled Weapon (NEW) system. This unprecedented feat marks a significant leap forward in real-time, cross-national coordination on the modern battlefield.
The success of this operation stems from years of close collaboration between Teleplan Globe and the Norwegian Armed Forces’ NOBLE (Norwegian Battle Lab & Experimentation). Together, the teams have developed a joint operational concept that enables seamless integration of advanced weapon systems across allied platforms.
This exercise highlights how Norwegian innovation is redefining the battlefield—making it possible to coordinate and control advanced weapon systems in real time after launch. The result: unmatched flexibility, precision, and multi-domain interoperability in complex missions.
The achievement underscores Norway’s growing role as a technology leader in the defence sector and reinforces the strength of transatlantic cooperation in ensuring future operational readiness.
